San Jose State University offers limited summer financial aid which may consist of Grant(s) and/or 工作人员ord Loan(s). The amount and type of summer aid students are eligible to receive will depend on many factors, including grade level, need, and whether or not eligibility for these funds have been exhausted during the regular academic year (秋季和春季).

Summer Aid 项目

• 贷款: Limited loan options are available to summer students, based on remaining eligibility.

• State 奖助金:  State Grant Aid (卡尔格兰特, State University Grant, Middle Class Scholarship and some tuition fee waivers) are not available during the Summer sessions as state 费用 are not charged during this 术语

Summer Aid Criteria

1. Enroll in summer courses at least half-time (4 units Graduate, and at least 6 units, in most cases, for Undergraduate students).
2. Submit the online Summer 金融援助 Application to de术语ine summer financial aid eligibility. Awards will be posted within 2-4 weeks 的提交. 

3. Make satisfactory academic progress toward your degree, per the Summer Academic Progress Policy/Agreement [pdf] 

Requirements for Summer 2024

• Must be a continuing 菠菜网lol正规平台 student.
• Must have a completed 2023-2024 FAFSA application and submitted all supporting documents.
• Must be awarded for 2023-2024 academic year.
• Must be enrolled in the minimum number of units required:
  • 6 units for undergraduate, 2^nd BA or Credential students
  • 4 units of 200 level classes or departmental approved equivalency for Graduate students.
• Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
• Must meet the document submission deadline, this includes on-line acceptance of loans. Applications received after this date will not be processed and student is responsible for any 费用 due by the posted deadline.

• Summer registration begins: April 10, 2024
• Financial aid application process begins: April 10, 2024
• Final Day to Apply for Summer 金融援助: July 16, 2024
• Last Day to accept Summer loans: July 18, 2024
• Spring Academic Standing: June 6, 2024

Summer Admit 项目

For the programs that have a summer admissions cycle, please complete a 2023 - 2024 financial aid application to be 被认为是 for aid.  你 will not need to complete the additional form.  

The Certificate 项目 offered through the College of 业务 that begin in the Summer Term are not eligible for any federal or state aid.  

The MA in Music Special Session Program that begins in the Summer is not eligible for any federal or state aid.

The disbursement of funds begins on a weekly basis, starting the 2nd week of the summer 术语. Financial aid funds will apply to the student's 账户 and pay any outstanding 费用 owed to the university (费用 not covered by financial aid is the responsibility 学生的).

Fee deferrals protect classes and suspend the payment of tuition 费用 until after the semester begins. Fee deferrals are temporary and will be removed at the beginning 每学期的. Once removed, all 费用 are due on the set deadline date, regardless of the student's summer financial aid status. To prevent enrollment cancellation,  submit all requested documents by scheduled fee payment deadline.

Summer Federal Work Study

Students who are planning on working under the Federal Work Study program beyond May 24 must first receive a summer federal work-study (FWS) clearance. 这将允许 students to work the months of June, July, and August.

To apply for a summer clearance, students must complete and submit the Summer Federal 勤工助学 Allocation Application.

  • Students who have been awarded financial aid for the current academic year are eligible 夏季援助.

• How do I apply for Summer Aid?

  • Students must show half-time enrollment and complete a Summer Evaluation Form to de术语ine summer financial aid eligibility. Once you have enrolled in summer courses, visit the 金融援助 and Scholarship Office to speak with a financial aid representative.

• I will be a new student to 菠菜网lol正规平台 in the fall. Can I receive financial aid for summer classes before the fall 术语 begins?

  • No. Students who are admitted for fall are not eligible to receive financial aid for the summer 术语 prior to the fall semester.

• Do I qualify for a fee deferral?

  • 是的. Once you have submitted all requested documents and have been de术语ined eligible 夏季援助, a fee deferral will be assigned to your record. Fee deferrals protect classes and delay the payment of tuition 费用 until after the semester begins. 你 are responsible for paying the difference between your financial aid award and your 费用.

• How many units do I need to be enrolled for summer to receive financial aid?
  • Students must show half-time enrollment at 菠菜网lol正规平台 (6 units for undergrad/post-baccalaureate/credential students, 4 units for graduate students). 
• What if I receive additional funds from another source?
  • Students are required to report any outside aid such as scholarships, stipends, or vocational rehabilitation benefits to the 金融援助 & Scholarship Office. 在一些 cases, it may be necessary to revise your summer financial aid award.
• When will my summer financial aid disburse?
  • Aid is disbursed after the second week of the summer session, for eligible students.
• Can I have my check directly deposited into my bank 账户?

• What if I change my classes after receiving my award notification?
  • 你 must notify the 金融援助 & Scholarship Office if you make any adjustments or changes to your classes after you have been awarded summer financial aid. 你的 award was calculated based on the number of units and weeks of enrollment you had contracted to complete. 你 will be required to repay any overpayment.
